Job Description

Prototype Test Engineer required. We are now looking for a Product Design Engineer to add to the business and be responsible for creating and developing new products as well as improving the performance and design of our existing products.
Reporting to the Product Design Manager, you will work closely in a small Design team to develop functional concept prototypes.

You must demonstrate an understanding of technical skills and knowledge in a variety of prototyping processes at a consistent high-level of quality and speed. This position requires strong conceptual development and the proficient use of various manufacturing processes and their correct implementation within the prototype path. You must be able to work independently, have a high attention to detail, be customer oriented and possess strong problem-solving skills. A good working knowledge and ability to take working files or conceptual ideas and develop them through to completion. It is vital that you are a self-starter, well organized and have strong communication skills.

Responsibilities
Create prototypes of concepts and products for evaluation and presentation
Plan, design and evaluate products to make sure that the finished product can be tested thoroughly.
Engage with the team to resolve complex design challenges, create bespoke machined or printed parts and help improve prototype process.
Finish and assemble concepts to a high-level of presentation quality.
Use hand sketches, computer aided designs (CAD) to create 3D models according to established specifications.
Develop strong relationships to assist in streamlining workflow.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Design course or equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in an Engineering/Design role with experience in consumer electronics and product development
CAD experience (SolidWorks, NX,)
Experience in working with cross-functional teams
Hands-on experience and knowledge of the full spectrum of the prototype development process, such as: 3D printing, CNC machining, molding, casting, functional prototypes, electrical integration and appearance models with aesthetic fit, finishes at a production-level appearance
Experience devising and constructing tools, dies, moulds, jigs, and fixtures, or modify existing tools and equipment to achieve desired outcome
Experience with hand finishing, painting and assembly of high-end visual and appearance Models

Hours of work are 8.00 am – 4.30 pm Monday – Thursday and 8.00 am – 3.30 pm Friday
