Job Description

Press and Communications Officer required for our professional services client based in Wolverhampton. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and positive individual that is looking for a press related marketing role, to join our Policy, Marketing and Communications Team.

The new vision for the department is to be a dynamic, modern and innovative team that utilises digital methods and new ideas to communicate and engage effectively with businesses and wider stakeholders.

This will be a role that requires excellent communication skills, especially written, and a good understanding of the marketing function. The Chamber operates in a B2B landscape so experience in this type of environment would be beneficial. You will also need to display exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills in this position.

Key duties will include:
• Content creation in line with the annual communication plan, covering all channels including copy for online sources.
• Responsible for the creation and distribution of press releases that are proactive and planned throughout the year, as well as reactive content to breaking news. Highlighting the businesses representative view of local businesses.
• Active relationship seeking and management of local media contacts with the Head of Policy, Marketing and Communications.
• Marketing material creation based on briefs and with the support of an external marketing agency. e.g. brochures and documents.
• Magazine editor for the quarterly member magazine. The main day to day contact with the external producers of the magazine, content review and creation for the editorial section.
• Production of thought leadership content for online documents (including blog content). Working with external sources and internal team members to support on this.
• All content in line with KPIs and overall Chamber objectives.
• Frequent report on content success through all channels and this will lead to intelligence for future creation. Focusing on content that is of high quality and supports businesses.
• Utilisation of the CRM system to make sure activity and interests can be tracked.

Experience required
• An understanding of the B2B landscape.
• Experience in marketing and/or a press related role.
• Good communication skills at all levels and across a variety of channels, including excellent written skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills to ensure objectives are achieved.
• Ability to effectively liaise with all external suppliers/contacts.
• Works well in a team and across functions.
• Full driving license and access to a car.
• Enthusiastic and positive individual with a can-do attitude.
• Embraces and identifies new ideas, with an understanding of the digital landscape.

Salary & benefits Package:
• £21k -27k per annum dependent on experience
• 25 days per year plus public holidays
• Company Pension scheme 6% contribution based
• Death in Service Insurance – 3 x gross salary

Working Hours:
Our standard hours of work are 35 per week. This role requires some flexibility in response to business requirements including the need to attend some meetings outside normal office hours.
